SVGD NEWSLETTER
September 3, 2019

SVGD Volunteers:
I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!
I've put our first two September events on the SVGD web site so that you can now register.  We will be helping the National Multiple Sclerosis Society with their MuckFest event (we, however, should not be getting too dirty!) and will also be helping the Food Bank of the Rockies.  Please see the details below regarding these two events and register if you'd like to assist.  It looks like we're going to have a fantastic Fall with lots of great volunteer events!

 SEPTEMBER EVENTS:

MuckFest in Parker benefiting the National MS Society, Sat. Sept. 14th, 11:30AM-3PM, 6 Volunteers are needed. We will be assisting as the participants monitor the 5k MuckFest (that's lots of mud!) course with over 18 obstacles.  We should not get too dirty as we will be helping in the Festival area- perhaps Gear Check, T-shirt/snack distribution, monitoring the Little Muckers play area (for kids 5-11 years old) or handing out water at the start & finish lines.  This will be confirmed as we get closer to the date.  We should have a fantastic time while raising money to try to help those with MS live their best lives as the Society works to stop MS in its tracks. I know that many of us have had family/friends whom this has affected.  This will be a fun way to make a difference!  I'm sure we will enjoy watching this event!  We have helped the MS Society before but this is the first time we've helped at this event.  Please consider the opportunity as I want to be sure we have a great group of volunteers to help them & that they know they can depend upon us.

Food Bank of the Rockies, Sat.,Sept. 21st, 8:45AM-Noon, 6 Volunteers are needed. We will, once again, be helping at their main warehouse in Aurora.  Food and other items are processed from food drives and grocery rescue pickups.  Volunteers will help inspect, sort and box these items before they are distributed to clients.  This are requires an attention to detail and is a low impact/physical area although it does require standing for the shift.  The event is located in NE Denver. The Food Bank of the Rockies helps families thrive by procuring and distributing food and essentials to the hungry.  They are a fantastic organization!

Please sign up for any of these events on the www.svgd.org  web site.

FUTURE EVENTS:
The following events are going to be upcoming but I don't have either the Event Captains or all the details yet.  Some of our members do like to get their schedule planned as soon as possible so I'm listing these so you can "pencil them" in to your schedule.  I will let you know when I have all the information & have put them on the web site so you can "officially" register.

Sat., Sept. 28  Taking Flight Fall Gala benefiting Warren Village.  Evening event at a hotel in Downtown Denver.
Fri., Oct. 4th, 5-10PM, Trivia for Life benefiting the American Transplant Foundation

If you know of any non-profit organizations that can use a group of 6 or more volunteers during an upcoming evening or weekend please feel free to give me the information as I'll be glad to explore the possibility of organizing a group of our SVGD volunteers to assist!  Thank you!
