We have four existing events which are coming up shortly.  We really need volunteers yet for the Colorado Horsecare FoodBank and the Rocky Mtn. Feline Rescue events.  Please sign up for the "Hay Bales & Horse Tales" and the Oktoberfest if you are available.  A few openings still exist for next weekend's "Moments for Mutss" and one volunteer is still needed for the Epilepsy Walk.
The five new events are:  "Breasts of Colorado", "Heather Ridge Golf Tournament", the Pumpkin Fest, the Great American Beer Festival, and the Run the Rocks event.

UPDATE ON WEB SITE:  We are working on our new web site.  It will take awhile to get it online as we are testing our site and making changes to make it function the way we need it to so it is as useful and convenient as possible.  I'll keep you posted.

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN SVGD?  While our web site is down new members do not have a site on which to sign up.  Normally we get about 12 new members per month.  If you know someone who would like to join SVGD please have them contact svgdmembership@gmail.com.  Someone will contact them so they can join and get involved.

REGISTERING FOR EVENTS:  Please remember to give me your first name, last name, and a contact phone number when you register for any of the New or Existing Events below.  This process of registering without our web site is working but I do need to have all your information since it is not being generated by our system.  Thanks for your assistance with this info. so I don't have to do as many Emails as I get all the registrations organized.

Existing Events:

1. "Moments for Mutts" benefiting Misha May, Sat. Sept.22, 8AM-1PM3 Volunteers are still needed to help with set up, food, silent auction, and take down.  This event will be held in a beautiful mansion in the Golden area.  Lunch will be provided to volunteers.  Misha May rescues & rehabilitates dogs. They save dogs from euthanasia & foster them for as long as it takes to find a home.

2. Epilepsy Walk benefiting the Chelsea Hutchinson Foundation,
Sun. Sept.23, 7-10:30AM, 1 Volunteer is still neededto help with registration and keeping food stocked.  The event will be held in Littleton.  The Chelsea Hutchinson Foundation helps individuals, particularly children & young adults, who have epilepsy.  The main focus is to raise funds to provide grants for trained seizure-response dogs.  There will be a lot of wonderful service dogs and entertainment/activities so the volunteers should have a lot of fun.

3. "Hay Bales & Horse Tales" benefiting Colorado Horsecare Foodbank, Sat. Sept. 29, 5PM til approx 10PM, 4 volunteers are still needed to assist with parking directing, beverage booth, the auction, and the tear down.  This event is at a scenic ranch in the Evergreen area so carpooling is available.  We assisted them last year. They were so impressed with our volunteers that they "booked" us again almost a year in advance.  This is a fun and worthwhile experience.  The Colorado Horsecare Foodbank provides assistance to horse owners who are struggling to feed and keep their horses.  With the present economy and the drought which has impacted hay prices this is a much needed service.

4. Oktoberfest benefiting Rocky Mtn. Feline Rescue, Sun. Sept. 30, 8:45AM-2PM, 4 volunteers are still needed to help run a beer booth for the LoDo festival.  Rocky Mtn. Feline Rescue is a needed no kill non profit which is presently experiencing financial difficulties.  They are working 9 shifts at the Oktoberfest in order to raise money to keep their organization operational.  Our help is greatly needed!  Plus Oktoberfest is a great time!  The Bronco game starts right after our shift ends so this would be an opportunity to watch the game in LoDo if you desire after our shift.
