SVGD Volunteers:

We have a new event on the web site for which you can register:  the US Pro Cycling Challenge.  We are excited to be involved for the first time with this event which receives world-wide recognition!  Details are given below.

We are about to enter into our busy event season!  With Summer vacations our event schedule slows down but starting in September we have several events per month through the Fall, Winter & Spring.  I hope you are excited to get involved with the great upcoming events.

EVENT:


Beer Booth at Finale of US Pro Cycle Challenge, Sun. August 25, 11AM-5PM- 6 volunteers are needed to run a beer booth at the grand finale of the US Pro cycle Challenge.  We are excited to be invited to assist at this event with world-wide recognition.  The best cyclists in the world compete in the seven-day event through the Rocky Mountains.  The finale for the race is in Denver.  There will be much celebration!!! You will be able to participate in the festivities in Civic Center Park after our shift.  The parking meters are free in Denver on Sundays.

New Event & Need Sat. Volunteers

SVGD Volunteers:

       We still need 4 volunteers to assist with this upcoming Saturday's MUDD Volleyball Tournament benefiting the March of Dimes!!  This is Colorado's biggest fundraiser for the March of Dimes. You don't have to play volleyball- you will be able to have some "dirty" fun!  Please sign up soon for this one so they know they can count on us to provide the number of people we promised.  Also, I've just added a new event- helping Pack Backpacks for the Read Aloud program sponsored by the Denver Public Libray.

        Details on on what our volunteers will be doing at both of these events are given below.  See you there!

EVENTS:


MUDD Volleyball benefiting the March of Dimes, Sat. Aug. 3rd, 8:30AM - 1PM.  6 Volunteers are needed to be drink runners to the teams.  This annual event has become one of the largest money makers for the Colorado March of Dimes Chapter raising over $200,000 each year.  There will be 282 teams, knee deep in MUDD.  Over 3,000 individuals play in the tournament with as many as 1,000 spectators.  This is the dirtiest way to have some clean fun for a worthy cause.  Volunteers will have an opportunity to enjoy the event which is located in the Northeast Metro area.


Packing Backpacks for the Read Aloud program for the Denver Public Library, 4:30PM (or as soon after work as possible) -7:30PM, Mon. Aug 12.  6 volunteers are needed to help pack backpacks for the volunteers who will take them out to the locations to read to the children.  We helped with this program before and were asked to come back as they were so impressed with our volunteers.  Snacks will be provided.  The Read Aloud volunteers read to educationally at-risk, low-income children attending Head Start, Early Childhood Education Centers and other agency programs.  Our back packing event will be held in Central Denver.

SVGD- New Event + Need Volunteers for This Saturday

SVGD Volunteers:

      Our volunteer events slow down during this time period as many of you have vacation & Summer plans.  We do, however, have some events and need help in making sure we honor our commitment to the non profit organizations that count on us.
       We still need 5 volunteers to assist with this upcoming Saturday's Buffalo Bill Days!!  This should be a fun event which, in addition to assisting, will give our volunteers an opportunity to enjoy Golden's largest annual event.  Please consider volunteering if possible-they are really counting on us to come through with enough volunteers for them.
        Also, I've just added a new "dirty" event- the MUDD Volleyball Tournament which benefits the March of Dimes.  If you've never attended this is definitely a part of Denver's culture which you should experience!
        Details on both of these events, which will be held the next two Saturdays, are given below.  See you there!

Golden's Buffalo Bill Days, Sat. July 27, 11AM-3PM, 8 Volunteers are needed to assist at the exit/entrances to check that alcohol does not leave the park.  We are assisting the Golden Lion's Club with this event.  This is Golden's largest annual festival which began in the 1940's.  They have live music and vendors.  Volunteers will receive tickets for free beers and will get to enjoy the festival.  This is our first chance to help this organization and to help at this event.  The event continues on after our shift so this should be a lot of fun!!

SVGD July Volunteer Events

SVGD Volunteers:

     The Wine Booth at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival went very well!  I should have some dollar figures to report in the next newsletter. I've already heard that we had the best sales of all the booths for Friday!!  Thanks to our group of hard-working volunteers!
      Now that the long 4th of July weekend is over we can now concentrate on the upcoming month.  We still need 5 volunteers to assist with this upcoming Saturday's Golf Outing!!  We need to get the names in to them by Wednesday so really need your help this weekend if you're available.  Thank you!  Details on this event plus the upcoming Buffalo Bill Days are given below.

EVENTS:


Wall-Bop Golf Outing benefiting the Brandon & Paul Foundation, Sat. July 13, 6:15AM-2PM, 6 Volunteers are needed to help at the tee boxes where the participants make donations- an outgoing personality & a smile are valued in this position.  Volunteers will receive a Tshirt and free lunch.  This is the 7th Annual Tournament.  Brandon & Paul were killed in a one-car accident on July 13, 2006.  This foundation provides educational programs for young drivers.  This is a new organization for us so I'm hoping we get a good turnout.  The event will be held at a Lakewood golf course.

SVGD- June/July Volunteer Opportunities

Hi!  Thanks to our great group of volunteers for providing enough volunteers to help with the three events that were short this past week!

We have a great opportunity to help the American Transplant Foundation at the Westword Music Festival.  This is Denver's largest music festival.  You will receive free admission to the festival by volunteering.  Details are below.

I now have the Cherry Creek Arts Festival Wine Booth shifts on the web site.  We are going to need lots of volunteers for this one as we have a total of 24 volunteer slots for the 8 shifts.  Please feel free to sign up for more than one shift!  Details are below.  See you there!!

We still can accept up to 4 volunteers for this Wednesday's Community Shares volunteer event if you are interested.  We do have the minimum number of volunteers they requested but they do have room for more if you'd like to be involved.

NEW EVENTS:


Westword Music Festival benefiting the American Transplant Foundation, Sat. June 22, 10:30AM-3PM, 8 Volunteers are needed to help at the Will Call check in at this fun event.  The Westword Music festival is held in the Golden Triangle area and is Denver's biggest music festival- over 150 bands and 13 stages.  Our volunteers will have an opportunity to enjoy the festival!  The American Transplant Foundation believes that no one should die while waiting for a lifesaving transplant and its mission is to save lives by reducing the growing list of women, men, & children who are waiting for a transplant.  This will be an opportunity to help a fantastic organization and also to be involved in a day of music!


Cherry Creek Arts Festival Wine Booth, Fri. July 5, 9:30AM-1:30PM, Volunteers are needed to assist at a Wine Booth at the Festival.  This event is known Nationally and you will have an opportunity to experience the festival.  We have tried for years to have a booth at the festival and have finally been selected this year!  This is a fundraiser for SVGD.  We will receive 14% of the sales excluding sales tax.  Our organization has financial requirements in order to function and provide services to help the local non profits with their events.  We are hoping this will become an annual event to help provide the funds we need to operate.  We are going to need lots of volunteers as we have 8 shifts.  Please feel free to sign up for more than one shift!  We look forward to seeing you at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival!  Please check the web site to see the times for the 8 shifts. 

EXISTING EVENT:

SVGD - June Volunteer Opportunites

Hi!  We have lots of exciting volunteer opportunities for the month of June.  Almost all of our events still need volunteers so please take some time to check your early Summer schedule and sign up to help these non profit organizations that provide such great services to our community!

I am excited to announce a new opportunity on June 12th to assist with the Summer Celebration for Community Shares.  Community Shares provides fantastic services to our local non profits.  This will be a well-attended festive event which will feature many prominent contributors to our community.

We still need 3 volunteers to assist at the Rocky Mountain PBS (Channel 6) phone bank on June 6, 5 volunteers to help with the Denver Public Library Used Book Sale on June 8, and 4 more volunteers to help with the Summer Art Market benefiting the Art Students League on June 9.  Please sign up soon so we can assure these non profits that we have the volunteers they need for these fun events.  Details for all events are given below.

June 1, 3:45PM - 7PM,  Waiting List please sign up in case we have a cancellation- volunteers are needed to assist at a beverage booth.  This free 2-day street painting festival has more than 200 artists who spend hours turning the streets of Larimer Square into a museum of chalk art.  There is live music, demonstrations, and vendors.  This festival benefits the Larimer Arts Assn. which is a non-profit dedicated to promoting arts awareness & education in Denver.



TV Phone Bank for RMPBS (Channel 6), Thurs. June 6, 5-10PM, 3 Volunteers are still needed to help with the live phone bank which features Rob Van Camp from Scenic Railways.  Rob has won 3 Emmys for his productions.  This will be a fun experience.  You will be trained prior to being on the phone bank and will be provided dinner.  Channel 6 always treats us very well!  This is a great opportunity to be part of a well-acclaimed production.


Used Book Sale benefiting the Denver Public Library, Sat. June 8, 12:30-4:30PM, 5 Volunteers are still needed to assist as Adders and Cashiers at this fantastic Annual Event!  Volunteers will receive parking vouchers and a 25% discount on any of their personal purchases.  This is a well-attended gala event by the Downtown Denver Library.  Sign up soon- our book-loving members really enjoy this one!


Summer Art Market benefiting the Art Students League, Sun. June 9, 1-5PM, 4 Volunteers are still needed to assist as Greeters and with the Food/Beverage Booths.  This event is back by popular request from our SVGD volunteers!  We have a great time.  The Art Students League facility is located in the South Denver area.  They assist members of all abilities who are guided by professional artists to reach their highest potential.  This is a fun event with several great artist booths.

SVGD - May/June Volunteer Opportunities

What a great time of year!  We have been doing several fantastic events and have several upcoming non profit requests for volunteers, especially in June.  I know you are going to have a great time attending the upcoming events.

Currently we still need 3 volunteers for this Sunday at the Bloomapalooza event at the Butterfly Pavilion.  Please sign up soon if you can help.  This should be a great time- I'd love to see the ladybug releases!  If you've never been there this is an opportunity to go for free and check it out. We don't want to let them down!

We have received enough registrations for the Larimer Square Chalk Fest but please feel free to sign up in case anyone needs to cancel.  This is a festive Downtown event which features great artists, music, and a fun time.

I have three new events to announce in this newsletter.  Channel 6 has asked us to help with an event featuring an Emmy winner, the Denver Public Library has asked us to help with their Annual Used Book Sale and we will be helping at the Summer Art Market benefiting the Arts Student League.  All three of these events are volunteer favorites so please don't hesitate to sign up.  All the details are given below.  I will be announcing another three June events in the next newsletter.  It's time to sign up & have a great time volunteering!

ANNOUNCEMENT RE: CHERRY CREEK ARTS FESTIVAL:  We have just been notified that SVGD was chosen to run a Wine Booth at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival!  We have been on the Waiting List for a few years so are very excited to be selected.  This booth will be on Friday, July 5th through Sunday, July 7th.  We are going to need lots of our volunteers to help during the three-day period.  If you haven't already made plans for the 4th of July weekend we would appreciate it if you could set aside some time during the weekend to volunteer at the Wine Booth.  More details will be forthcoming and the sign up will be coming out soon.

SVGD- May/June Events

We have lots of fun new volunteer event opportunities coming up in the next few weeks!  Right now WE REALLY NEED 3 MORE VOLUNTEERS THIS WEDNESDAY to serve dinner at The Crossing.  This is a volunteer favorite!  If you can't make it right at 5PM the Event Captain can work with you being a little late since it is right after work.  We also still need 3 Volunteers to fill out the Public Television Live Auction Phone Bank on Monday, May 20th.  I'm hoping we can fill these two events soon so the non profits don't have to worry that they'll be short on volunteers. May 15, 5-7:30PM, 3 Volunteers are still needed to help serve dinner this Wednesday!  The Crossing provides homes for men, women, & children.  The residents are now employed and saving to get into an apartment.  Our volunteers help in the buffet line, with a little of the preparation, have dinner at the facility after the residents are fed, and do some light straightening up.  Every time we do this our volunteers are asking when we are going to be able to help again.  This is a great event!

Live Television Phone Bank benefiting Public Television (Channel 12), Mon. May 20, 5:30-10PM,  3 Volunteers are still needed to help with the live phone banks.  This event is an auction which is a very fun experience.  All volunteers will be trained and be provided dinner prior to the event.  The auctions generate many phone calls so we really need a good turn out to provide all 10 of  the volunteers they have requested.  You will have a great time!

SVGD- Volunteers Needed for 3 May Events

Hi!  We still have volunteer openings for the next three volunteer events that are coming up in May.  The Lucky Mutt Strut is this weekend so we need registrations quickly for that one.  We also still need volunteers for Serving Dinner at The Crossing and to help with the Live Auction on Public Television.  Details on all three of these events are given below.

Lucky Mutt Strut benefiting MaxFund, Sat. May 11, 8:30AM-Noon, 3 more volunteers are needed this Saturday to assist with the water stations and finalizing the event as there is a wedding scheduled in this Central Denver park as soon as the 5K run is over.  MaxFund is a no-kill shelter.  They have several fun events going on during the race.  This is a great way to get up and going on a Saturday morning in addition to helping a good cause.  (We've got an order in for great weather!)

May 20, 5:30-10PM, 6 more volunteers are needed to help with the live phone bank.  This event is an auction which is a very fun experience.  All volunteers will be trained and be provided dinner prior to the event.  The auctions generate many phone calls so we really need a good turn out to provide all 10 of  the volunteers they have requested.  You will have a great time!

SVGD May Events

I have three new May events to announce in this newsletter BUT we still need volunteers for this Saturday's Jockeys, Juleps, & Jazz event watching the Kentucky Derby and benefiting Lifeline Colorado.  We normally provide 8-10 volunteers but as of right now we only have 4 volunteers assisting this weekend.  We need your help!  If you can assist please sign up soon!  This is a really fun event- you'll be glad you were involved plus this is a non profit we've been assisting for years.

The three new events in May are:  The Lucky Mutt Strut benefiting MaxFund, serving dinner at The Crossing Shelter, and the Channel 12 Public Television Auction Phone Bank.  Details on all the events are given below. 

Thanks so much for giving your time to help these non profits.  We always get such appreciation from them for the quality of volunteers we provide from SVGD.  I thank you so much!  See you soon!

ANNOUNCEMENT RE: CHERRY CREEK ARTS FESTIVAL:  We have just been notified that SVGD was chosen to run a Wine Booth at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival!  We have been on the Waiting List for a few years so are very excited to be selected.  This booth will be on Saturday, July 5th through Monday, July 7th.  We are going to need lots of our volunteers to help during the three-day period.  If you haven't already made plans for the 4th of July weekend we would appreciate it if you could set aside some time during the weekend to volunteer at the Wine Booth.  More details will be forthcoming

New Events:


Lucky Mutt Strut benefiting MaxFund, Sat. May 11, 8:30AM-Noon, 6 volunteers are needed to assist with the water stations and finalizing the event as there is a wedding scheduled in this Central Denver park as soon as the 5K run is over.  MaxFund is a no-kill shelter.  They have several fun events going on during the race.  This is a great way to get up and going on a Saturday morning in addition to helping a good cause.  (We've got an order in for great weather!)


Serving Dinner at The Crossing Shelter, Wed. May 15, 5-7:30PM, 7 Volunteers are needed to help serve dinner.  The Crossing provides homes for men, women, & children.  The residents are now employed and saving to get into an apartment.  Our volunteers help in the buffet line, with a little of the preparation, have dinner at the facility after the residents are fed, and do some light straightening up.  Every time we do this our volunteers are asking when we are going to be able to help again.  This is a great event!

Live Television Phone Bank benefiting Public Television (Channel 12), Mon. Existing Events:

1. Jockeys, Juleps & Jazz Kentucky Derby benefiting Lifeline Colorado, Saturday, May 4th, 2PM-7PM, 11 volunteers are still needed to assist with the Silent Auction, Live Auction, and act as Ambassadors at this fun event.  We have assisted with this annual event for years and thoroughly enjoy the experience.  Guests are dressed in "Derby attire" to watch the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby while having great food and mint juleps.  There is a band and a program. Our volunteers get to enjoy the event in addition to voluteering.  Lifeline Colorado provides support for cancer patients.  The event is located in a posh Downtown Hotel.
