SVGD Volunteers:
Good morning!  Enjoy this sunny day as it sounds like the weather is going to be very different tomorrow!
Right now I'm busy confirming our November events.  We do still have three events coming up in October, however, and need help yet for at least two of them.  WE STILL 3 VOLUNTEERS TO HELP AS CASHIERS NEXT SATURDAY FOR THE PUMPKIN PATCH!  It sounds like the weather is supposed to be nice that day.  Please sign up for this fun & worthwhile event if you can help.  Also we STILL NEED 4 VOLUNTEERS FOR THE STEPPIN' UP WARREN VILLAGE GALA ON THE 20TH.  Although we have met the minimum number of volunteers we need for the Gorilla Run Costume Contest we can still accept two more people if you'd like to help.  Details for all three of these events are given below.  I hope to see you soon at an upcoming event.

 EVENTS:
Pumpkin Festival benefiting Denver Botanic Gardens, Sat. Oct. 14, Noon-6PM,(WE STILL NEED 3 VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS UPCOMING SATURDAY!) 6 Volunteers are needed to help as cashiers at the Chatfield Farms pumpkin patch in SW Denver.  This is a 10-acre pumpkin patch. Families normally bring a wagon to transport pumpkins. There is also daycare while people enjoy the rest of the festival.  We will be helping as cashiers for those who buy pumpkins (prices vary by the size of the pumpkin.)  The festival includes family & children's activities, live music, local craft and artisan booths, food trucks & vendors as well as beer and wine vendors.  It is a fun event that is next to the Corn Maze.  Proceeds go to the Denver Botanic Gardens.  This is a great opportunity to enjoy the festivities!

Steppin Up! Warren Village Gala, Fri Oct. 20, 4PM-10PM , (We still need 4 volunteers for this event) 6 volunteers are needed to help with greeting, coat check, spotting for the auction, the Wine Wall, and a little clean up.  The event will be at the Pinnacle Club which provides fantastic city views from the Grand Hyatt Denver.  There will be a cocktail hour, live & silent auction, program, entertainment, and dinner.  Warren Village benefits low-income, single-parent families working towards self sufficiency.  We haven't had an opportunity to help them for awhile but previously have helped them in areas such as painting their early-learning center, helping with an auction & fashion show, and we hung Holiday decorations for them in their main building.  It's exciting to be asked back to assist them again, especially at this impressive Gala!

Most Creative Gorilla Costume Contest for the 14th Annual Denver Gorilla Run, Sat, Oct. 21st, 9AM-11:30AM, (We have filled our minimum commitment for volunteers but can still use up to 2 more volunteers if you wish to help.) 4-6 Volunteers are neededFor the third year we will be in charge of the costume contest at this fun event!  They love our group so much that they invited us back again. Our voluteers will set up the area for the judges, will gather & coordinate the contestants as they enter the stage, & will provide the announcer with the contestants'  info.   The contest takes place just before the 5K walk/run that starts at11AM.  The participants all wear gorilla or banana suits and come from all across the United States.  The event helps raise funds for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, the international charity working to save the world's last remaining mountain gorillas & keeping Diane Fossey's dream alive for the past 30 years.  The event starts & ends at the Westin Westminster where there is an after party.  Volunteers will receive a beer ticket & food access so the volunteers will probably wish to stay a little longer after the contest to enjoy the festivities.
