February 21, 2019

SVGD Volunteers:
We've had a volunteer cancellation for this Saturday's Clothing Donation Sorting in Jefferson County so please sign up soon if you can help so I can get you all the details.  Thanks!
I've just put a new event on the SVGD web site so you can now sign up.  We will be helping the American Lung Assn. at their Fight For Air Climb at Denver's tallest building on March 3rd.
Also, I've just added some new events on the list below of future events so you can check out the list and pencil in any that interest you.  I will let you know when I've got Event Captains and have them on the web site.
I could use a few more SVGD Event Captains if you are interested.  I provide training and you co-Captain before doing yourself so you can see how we do it.  I still find and confirm the event.  The Event Captain's job isn't hard, is a lot of fun, but I do need people to lead some of the events as I can't lead them all myself.  Please email me if you're interested in getting more information.  I email out a list of upcoming events to the Event Captains and they select ones they would like to lead that meet their schedules.
Thanks to all of you for helping our Denver Metro Community at these upcoming events!

SVGD Volunteer Events Coordinator

Please sign up on to this assist at these events.

Clothing Donation Sorting for Jeffco Action Center, Sat., Feb. 23rd, 9AM-Noon. (WE STILL NEED 1 VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT!!)  6 total Volunteers are needed to help sort the donated clothing for the busy week ahead.   During the week people in need shop with volunteer shoppers in their donation "store" that is set up by sizes and types of clothing just like a regular store.  They are told how many items the can receive at the store and are given a time limit for their shopping. We have helped with this portion of their center's activities before and really enjoyed the experience!! The Action Center’s mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.  They are located in Lakewood.

2019 Fight for Air Stair Climb benefiting the American Lung Assn., Sun. March 3rd,  7AM til 1PM (oftentimes we get done by 10:30AM but they do go til 1PM so that's a possibility.)  6 Volunteers are needed to help with water stations, registration, gear-check etc.  They will have free parking for our volunteers!  This fun and unique event is a 56-floor climb (I'm out of breath just thinking about it!) at Denver's tallest building in Downtown Denver.  They are expecting over 2,400 participants this year!  We have helped them for several years.  This event makes a huge difference in helping the American Lung Association assist those who have lung disease.

The following events are going to be upcoming but I don't have the Event Captains nor all the details yet.  Some of our members do like to get their schedule planned as soon as possible so I'm listing these so you can "pencil them" in to your schedule.  I will let you know when I have all the information & have put them on the web site so you can "officially" register.
