SVGD Volunteers:
What great weather!  We have so much going on.  I've just put three new events on the SVGD web site!  First though, we still need 3 volunteers for this Saturday's event at the Denver Botanic Gardens!  Please sign up today or tomorrow if you can help!  It would be greatly appreciated!!

I have put a great event for Veterans on the site for Memorial Day morning when we will be helping by putting flowers on all the graves at Ft. Logan Cemetery!  Also, we will once again be helping the Larimer Arts Assn. by running a beverage booth at the Chalk Art Festival!  Finally, we have confirmed the first of our two annual fundraisers for SVGD.   We will, once again, be running an alcohol booth at PrideFest for two days.  This helps us and well as the organization but takes a lot of manpower.  We need everyone to help & hope you will also invite others to volunteer for this such as fellow employees, friends, etc.  Details for all these events are given below.

Also, we've had some turnover on our 2018 Board.  Please welcome Erik Schumann as a new Board member!  Erik has been actively attending SVGD events for quite some time. He attended last night's Board meeting & will be helping with our Treasurer duties plus will be part of our recruitment team as we get the volunteers we need for our upcoming fundraiser.  Erik is active professional  in the computer field.  We look forward to having him on our Board!!

Volunteers will get a discount off of any plants they wish to purchase.  Kick off your gardening season correctly as you can stay and make some good purchases yourself!  The mission of Denver Botanic Gardens is to connect people with plants, especially plants from the Rocky Mountain region and similar regions around the world, providing delight and enlightenment to everyone.

NEW EVENTS:

Ft. Logan National Cemetery Flowers with the Victory for Veterans Foundation, Mon. May 28 (AM-still confirming the time), 6 Volunteers are needed.  We will be helping them place a flower on  every grave at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.  This organization serves veterans & their families needs, one at a time.  Their Vision is Absolute Zero!- zero suicides, zero homeless, zero jobless, zero uncared for, & zero feeling alone & abandoned.  The Memorial Day event is part of a larger mission which also includes putting flowers on the graves in Arlington National Cemetery, organized by the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation.

Chalk Art Festival benefiting the Larimer Arts Association, Sat. June 2, 2-6PM, 6 Volunteers are needed.  We will be staffing a beverage booth selling beer, wine, cocktails & non-alcoholic beverages.  This Larimer Square event is one of Denver's premier downtown art events.  The artists actually draw on the street.  By Saturday afternoon they will be well on their way with their beautiful drawings so you'll have an opportunity to see some great art.  All volunteers will receive a Tshirt & a meal.  The event is easily accessible by Light Rail & the 16th Mall shuttle (they aren't able to offer parking.)  The Larimer Arts Association is dedicated to promoting arts awareness and education in Denver.

Fundraising Beverage Booth at PrideFest-Sat. June 16 & Sun. June 17, We will have 2 shifts each day with 10-12 Volunteers  needed for each shift to run an alcohol booth.  When you log onto the www.svgd.org web site you can choose which shift you'd like.  This is the first of two fundraising events that SVGD is doing this year. In addition to helping the non-profit we will get paid money towards our fantastic organization so we can continue to operate.  SVGD needs funds annually in order to pay our insurance, web hosting etc.  We provide volunteers to approx. 60 non-profit events annually but do need to do a couple for us in order to continue providing this great service to the Metro Denver community.  We will be in charge of an alcohol booth at this fun event with a percentage of the profits going to our organization!  Since this is a big undertaking & a fundraiser, non-SVGD members can also register.  We encourage our members to invite friends and other non-profit associates to participate.  When you sign up please let us know if you have other persons who could be volunteers and we will contact them or you can give us their info.  We helped at this event last year and had such a fantastic time!  It's a colorful event with lots going on!  What fun!!  PrideFest is the largest annual fundraiser annually for the GLBT Community Center of Colorado, a non-profit that serves more than 47,000 people annually.  This year Denver PrideFest is embracing the 2018 theme of "Say It Loud, Say It Proud", that encourages all community members to make their voices heard & to be proud of their achievements.  Please join us as we accomplish two objectives- supporting SVGD financially and supporting this non profit.
