SVGD Volunteers:

We've got two great events coming up in the next week.  The BBQ & Blues event for Habitat for Humanity needed a couple more volunteers so we added to our volunteer number and we still have one opening for Saturday!  This will be fun & worthwhile!  Sign up soon if you want to help.  I'd like to let them know who additionally is coming in the next day or two for their "free entrance to the festival" list.

Also, I just put the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival on the web site.  We haven't helped them for years so this should be a fun time.  It's coming up a week from Saturday so sign up soon if you'd like to help.   I've been in Minnesota the past week (my mother turned 85, whoo hoo!) so am busy getting our new events on the web site.  I should have more great opportunities for you soon also.

Details for both of these events are given below.

It sounds like a great time for a good cause!! Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.  Their Vision is: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, Sat. July 28th, 3-7PM, 6 Volunteers are needed. We will be helping as Festival Ambassadors and in Dragonland.  The Festival Ambassadors greet festival attendees as they're arriving, answer questions, give out program books, & direct attendees to key festival points.  The Dragonland group is focused on youth and education and offers Asian-inspired crafts games and activities. The volunteers will assist with games and activities and also hand out program books. Over 100,000 people attend this event which is the largest of its kind in the nation celebrating the traditional Chinese holiday & promoting contemporary cultural integration between the diverse Asian Pacific American (APA) communities.  It is held at Sloan's Lake and has over 40 teams from across the world competing in the dragon boat race, a performing arts stage, an Asian market place, a taste of Asian food court & more!!  The Festival is open prior to our shift so you can come for free, watch some of the performances and races, tour the market area & eat some great food if you'd like.
