SVGD Volunteers:
I just put a new April volunteer event on our web site!  We will be helping at a Prom Dress event that provides free prom dresses, shoes, and accessories for low-income teens so they can have as fantastic a time at their prom as their peers.  This is the first time we've done this event & I think it will be a great, worthwhile experience.
Also, our last two March events still need volunteers!!!  We've been filling all of our events this year but I'm getting a little concerned as WE STILL NEED 4 VOLUNTEERS FOR EACH OF THE UPCOMING TWO EVENTS, ONE BEING THIS SATURDAY!  Part of that might be my error from last week regarding the date.  I hope you're able to help as we never want to let down the non-profit organizations once we make a commitment to them.  We want them to know that they can depend upon us.  Thanks for considering the opportunities!
Our 2019 Board had its first meeting of the year this past week.  It looks like we've got a great group and should be making a lot of progress during the upcoming year!!

MARCH EVENTS:

"Beautiful Junk Sale" benefiting JeffCo Action Center, Sat. March 16, 7:45AM-Noon, (WE STILL NEED 4 VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS EVENT!) 6 volunteers in total from our group will be helping.  We are going to help with the sales portion where we will be helping to stock and stage the merchandise as well as assist buyers.  This event is back by request from previous volunteers who had such a great time! This enormous 2-day garage sale is the largest bargain shopping extravaganza in Jefferson County.  It is held inside at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds and offers 10,500 sq. ft. of jewelry, collectibles, vintage odds & ends, a vast array of household items, sporting goods, holiday decor & much more!  Our volunteers will be helping during the actual sale which continues all day so they will have the opportunity to shop after their shift if they wish.  This event normally brings in more than $40,000 to support families in need through the Action Center's services. The Action Center’s mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.  We help them with their Clothing & Food donations as well as their Thanksgiving food donations to needy families.  This is such a worthy non profit!!

9Health Fair, Sun. March 31st, 6AM til Noon, (WE STILL NEED 4 VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS EVENT!) 6 volunteers in total from our group will be helping.  We will be helping in their busiest area with half the group helping with traffic & participants in the lab area and the other half helping to relieve during breaks for volunteers in that and other areas. Also, we will all be helping to get the break room food set up for the volunteers.  You do not have to have a medical background in order to help.  I'm sure we all know what a great service the 9Health Fairs provide for people who don't have insurance who are under-insured!  We will be helping again in South Denver off of Hampden. The 9Health Fair is the largest volunteer-driven, non-profit health, wellness & prevention effort in the nation!  They provide affordable, convenient screenings, & health education.

NEW APRIL EVENT:

Prom Dress Event for Low-Income Teens!- Sat., April 6th, 12-3PM.  6 Volunteers are needed to help teens select prom dresses, shoes, & accessories in addition to sorting inventory & organizing new donations.  Volunteers are asked to wear all black. You will receive training & have time to familiarize yourself before working with the students.  Bella Boutique is Denver's only 501(c) non profit dedicated to providing area teens in financial need with free gowns, shoes, accessories & more in a boutique space so they are able to shop in a beautiful space like their peers.  Teens are referred by educators, coaches, pastors, other community leaders, or are those who qualify for a free lunch.  This non profit allows teens to have a great prom experience which they might not otherwise be able to do because of financial limitations.  The event will be near I25/6th Ave.
